Ragunath Ramamoorthy is a seasoned coder with extensive experience in C++ and Python. Now, to expand his skillset and learn more about data science and machine learning, he wanted to go for a formal data science online course. So, without further ado, he enrolled with the Global Certificate in Data Science & AI (GCDAI) program at INSAID.
In this interview, let’s see what got him interested in data science in the first place and how he is planning to use it in the future.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at INSAID & tell us more about your current work profile?
Ragunath: I’m enrolled in the Global Certificate in Data Science & AI (GCDAI) program, July 2020 cohort, and I’m working as a developer in Herman Miller, India.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Ragunath: Initially, I started my career as a C++ developer for Cat customization, and later, I switched my company and became a Python developer.
One of my seniors learned data science, and he’s doing great in his career now. That got me interested in data science and pushed me to take up the data science online course at INSAID.
Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at INSAID so far?
Ragunath: So far I have learned NumPy and Pandas.
Question 4: What are some initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey, and how did you overcome them?
Ragunath: I won’t say it’s challenging to learn on NumPy and Pandas as I am a developer, and I already know Python; so it was not that difficult. I think statistics was a little difficult for me, but I got used to that later and got a grip on it.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at INSAID, and what did you learn from him the Most?
Ragunath: Deepesh is one of the best faculties, I know.
Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?
Ragunath: I think data science has a huge role to play in business and I would really like to implement my learnings of data science and machine learning in my work.
Question 7: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?
Ragunath: During the data science online course at INSAID and even now, I follow all data science blogs in Medium, and see its posts often.
