As a full stack developer and a coder, Arnab Biswas wanted to dive deep into the world of data science, machine learning and AI. So, to upskill in as well as feed his curiosity about the applications of artificial intelligence, he enrolled for the Global Certificate in Data Science & AI (GCDAI) program at INSAID.
In this interview, let’s take a look at what grabs his interest in data science and how was his learning experience at INSAID.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you part of at INSAID & tell us more about your current work profile?
Arnab: I am part of the Global Certificate in Data Science & AI (GCDAI) program, July 2020 batch. Currently, I am working as a full stack developer in SAP Labs.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Arnab: I have completed one year in SAP and working as a full stack developer. The product which I am working on is SAP CPI which helps the user to integrate with the different applications through CPI. The current role over here is of an Individual Contributor where I can do end to end backlog implementation by contributing to Architectural Diagram, HLD, and TDD methodology. Before SAP, I was working with Tecnotree Convergence Pvt Ltd. I have worked for over 3.8 years.
I have always been intrigued by the impact of data science, machine learning and the applications of artificial intelligence worldwide. I got into data science and machine learning to upskill and have a keen interest in knowing how the recommendation engine works. I am also interested to learn about Churn Predicting analysis.
Question 3: What all tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered in your Data Science & AI program at INSAID so far?
Arnab: So far, I have used Anaconda as packages and Jupyter Lab as a tool.
Question 4: What are some of the initial challenges when you got started on your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Arnab: The whole initial experience was like jumping into the ocean without knowing how to swim. I faced a lot of challenges. But with regular practice and the guidance of INSAID’s faculty I got better. I learned some very interesting things that piqued my curiosity towards this field even more.

Arnab: Darshan and Suchit are my favorite faculties at INSAID but I didn’t get any such good chance to continue with their classes.
Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?
Arnab: It’s a craze in the market and the future is all about it. Without adopting the skills in data science and knowing the applications of artificial intelligence which solve our real-life problems we will be backdated. And, as a developer or as a programmer I think this is very important for me to learn and it is necessary for me to expand my cognitive ability.
Question 7: In your view, how has Data Science evolved in the last few years?
Arnab: In my opinion, data science is the hot cake in the market, without knowing or without adding this in the resume, people will become backdated. In the upcoming days, almost all of the problems will be solved by data science as well as the applications of artificial intelligence.
Question 8: What are the current trends in Data Science that you are most excited about?
Arnab: There are four major trends that capture my attention: smarter, faster, more responsible AI, the decline of the dashboard, decision intelligence, the merge of data and analytics.
Question 9: Which are some of the blogs that you follow?
Arnab: I am not specifically following blogs but, whenever I need to know anything about data science I browse through a few data science websites and blogs.
Question 10: What is your advice to anyone wanting to start a career in Data Science?
Arnab: Data science is the best choice; do not rethink it. Learning data science is the best decision you will ever make in your life.
