In this INSAID Spotlight interview, we feature Akshay Jujare, a Front End Developer at Tata Consultancy Services. His insatiable passion for knowledge and upskilling led him to enroll in the Global Certificate in Data Science program at INSAID.
Question 1: Which program & batch are you a part of at INSAID & tell us more about your current work profile?
Akshay: I am a part of the Global Certificate in Data Science (GCD) program, July 2021 batch. Currently, I am working at TCS Hyderabad. I am a GIS web developer, I am working as a Front End Developer where we work with spatial data and create reports based on client requirements.
Question 2: Walk us through your career journey & what got you interested in Data Science & Machine Learning?
Akshay: I started my career in 2016 with Tech Mahindra as a GIS Web Developer. I have worked mainly on the front end and never handled Data until 2018, where I got to work directly with spatial data which got me interested in Data Science.
Eventually, I decided to enroll in a formal course at INSAID to pursue my career in Data Science.
Question 3: What tools and packages in Data Science & Machine Learning have you mastered at INSAID so far?
Akshay: During the course, I’ve polished my skills in Python programming, Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib, and Seaborn.
Question 4: What challenges did you face when you started your Data Science journey and how did you overcome it?
Akshay: I was weak in Statistics but the starter kit provided by INSAID really helped me to get more apt knowledge which is needed to understand and apply it. Also, the explanation provided by Deepesh helped me in understanding the concepts and to understand how we can apply them in real-time.
Question 5: Who is your favorite faculty at INSAID and what did you learn from them?
Akshay: I like Deepesh and Darshan as they have excellent presentation skills and they explain concepts with a lot of examples.
Question 6: What is the goal of Data Science?
Akshay: In my perspective, the goal of Data Science is to offer the best solutions to business problems by applying different algorithms and deriving meaningful Insights.
Question 7: What current trends in Data Science are you most excited about?
Akshay: The Data Science trends that I am most excited about are the studios being developed to have all the ML algorithms changed to drag and drop applications such as Azure ML studio.
Question 8: Which Data Science blogs do you follow?
Akshay: I follow KD Nuggets and Kaggle.
